Mudcloth originated in northern Africa, specifically from MALI where this piece is from, in the Western Sahara region. Traditionally men weave narrow strips of fabric and stitch them together to create a larger canvas. These pieces are left in their original state (before dyeing). You can fully appreciate the beauty of the weaving.
